Turkish Suzuki Music Education Association
The Turkish Suzuki Music Education Association, chaired by Müge Eraydın Yeğin, was founded by Jülide Yalçın in 2008 and aimed to organize training and concerts for both students and teachers in order to spread the Suzuki Music Education approach in Turkey. Currently, there are 54 instructors and more than 500 students affiliated to the association in Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Bursa, Kocaeli, Bolu and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. The association organizes “teacher training certificate courses” every year to train violin and cello instructors. In the next education period, it is planned to open teacher trainings for piano and guitar in addition to these courses.
The Turkish Suzuki Music Education Association organized the “Suzuki Violin Students Gala Concert” in 2017, where 75 Suzuki violin students from our country met on stage accompanied by ESA Teacher Trainer Christophe Bossuat, and the concert attracted great attention. In 2018, a large “Suzuki Gala Concert” was held under the direction of Wilfried van Gorp, who is also one of the ESA Teacher Trainer, and more than 100 students attended. In October 2019, a workshop was organized under the management of Martin Rüttimann, Christophe Bossuat and Wilfried van Gorp with the participation of students from both our country and abroad, and about 20 instructors and 100 students came together.
In order not to stay away from our students during the pandemic period, online Suzuki Meetings were organized and video concerts were held. We had a celebration for the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day, in which we made a collage video recording with the participation of both our students and teachers, reflecting our enjoyment of playing together.
WHAT IS SUZUKI METHOD?
“Teaching music is not my main purpose. I want to make good citizens. If children hear fine music from the day of their birth and learn to play it, they develop sensitivity, discipline and endurance. They get a beautiful heart.” Shinichi Suzuki
The Suzuki Method has been developed by Shinichi Suzuki's more than forty years of research. ESA (European Suzuki Association), which has been successfully applied for years, has been increasing in our country, especially in the last 10 years. It is a technique applied by licensed trainers of the ESA.
This method, which is now known as the "Suzuki Teaching Method" by spreading all over the world, started to be developed with experimental pedagogy in the 1930s by Japanese Violin Instructor Shinichi Suzuki, who devoted himself to raising good and loving individuals - through music - in his full century of life. Its mental system is a method based on the "Mother Tongue Method". Just as the child learns the mother tongue easily by hearing from his parents, the Suzuki method is based on developing it easily and naturally, like the mother tongue, by constantly listening to the music and then repeating it. The Suzuki method is recognized all over the world as the method that provides the fastest development in this field.
In this method, the main thing is not to follow the parts in the book, but to have the teacher's ISA (International Suzuki Association) and ESA approved special education technique and to apply the conscious approach of this education in order to get the real result.
Turkey SMED - Suzuki Music Education Association is the only institution authorized to give "International Suzuki Trainer" certification in Turkey. This association is affiliated with ESA (European Suzuki Association).
